The Department of Labor, DOL, just issued a Final Ruling to Update the Regulations Defining and Delimiting the Exemption for Executive, Administrative, and Professional Employees.
Are your Salaried Employees making less than $47,476/yr?
If so, effective December 1, 2016, they will no longer be exempt from overtime. You will need to pay them time and a half for all hours over 40 worked in a week.
Many employers are surprised to find out that there are very strict guidelines in place to determine if an employee can be labeled as “Salaried Exempt”
